One reason I love this session is not because Ashley and Brock are so incredibly easy on the eyes, but because we seemed to nail each location at the ideal time for such pretty light…I swoon! Amazingly enough, we were working against the clock just a bit with a late start and Ashley had a lot of specific locations chosen that required a bit of driving so I was MORE than thrilled that the light kept working with us! Ashley too is a photographer and knew exactly where she wanted her images taken, most of them being in her hometown. Which just happens to also be where I grew up. Yes, Willshire, OH may be tiny and mostly farm ground once you pass through the one stop light, but it still makes for some great shoot locations, don’t you think?!
What I loved about Ashely’s chosen locations was that most of them had personal meaning to them: Grandma’s house, her Dad’s corn field and even at the house where she and Brock make their home. And years from now, they’ll look back and not only remember this time in their lives but all other memories tied to these places!
This sunflower field is literally right across the road from Ashely and Brock’s house! They get to stare at it every day..and now forever, I guess ;) And really, the sunset…oh my word.
I have too many favorites…darn you sun for making every image feel dreamy!
And back at Ashley and Brock’s house were the “kids.” I cannot for the life of me remember their names, but I DO remember that the one with the caramel colored ears..he wasn’t a fan of mine!!!
We were running out of light FAST and Ashley had two outfits she wanted photographed…you know, the kind of outfits you love and purchase and have no idea where you’ll ever wear them to…so we had to get them in! I think Ash only wore this black lace dress for TWO MINUTES before changing into her sparkly romper :)
Hmm..another favorite on the right!
Ashley and Brock, thanks for moving fast and rocking your session :) I can’t wait to see how all of your wedding ideas (and the final location) will come together for you next summer!
This little girl is all diva. Not diva in the way that makes you roll your eyes and think she’s spoiled…but in the way that makes you laugh at her childish reactions to such grown up things as jewelry, clothing and Justin Bieber. Yes, the Biebs. More on that in a bit….
Faith is one of those kids on my list of amazing families I get to work with that I eagerly anticipate photographing each year. She is the sweetest and funniest little girl I think I’ve ever known. Every expression from her is nothing but genuine…and she easily plays along when I ask her to sing and dance in the middle of the street. All to Justin Bieber songs, of course ;)
And here makes the first appearance of Justin on the blog…we’ll see if it’s also the last ;) Faith has a tiny little girl crush and isn’t afraid to admit it. She was sooo excited to sport her Bieber tshirt and would often yell BIEBER FEVER at me when I asked her about him ;) I am pretty sure I came home singing “Baby, Baby, Baby Ohhhhh” that night!
Oh, Faith…you make me smile like no other! I won’t judge you for your taste in music (yet) but next time I may bring my own tunes ;)
I could not be more excited about photographing the wedding of these two this weekend! I’m even more excited that it’s supposed to be nice and warm ( I actually sent Kayli a text last Saturday, thanking her for not getting married that day…BRRRR) :) Kayli and I have become great friends over the past year while she’s planned out all the details of her wedding day. She’s sought out my advice a few times and I have enjoyed living vicariously through a young brides eyes. Tim is also thankful that I’m getting it out of my system so I don’t follow through on the threat to re-commit our vows for the sake of having new wedding photos ;) Kayli has fabulous taste and I cannot wait to see how everything is going to come together on Saturday! I’ve even seen her dress and it’s AMAZING!!
We scheduled their engagement session way back in the Spring when the never-ending rain was ruining most of my plans. The morning of the shoot it was very dreary and I was shocked that we didn’t get rained on! Kayli and Doug just went with it and kept snuggling to stay warm. It is always a fun surprise when the overcast skies open up new shooting opportunities you never noticed before and we found a few gems along the way…and these two know how to work it ;)
Kayli had one request for her session…that we find a weeping willow tree. After looking all over the place, I realized my girlfriend who lives across the road has one in her backyard…. Isn’t that what neighbors are for?!
Doug’s such a handsome guy :) I can’t wait to see him in a tux!!!
Kayli and Doug, I have enjoyed every moment of working with you and I know Saturday is going to be even more of the same! I can’t believe your day is almost here! And while all the planning and preparing, the meetings and details have at times seemed overwhelming, know that when it’s all said and done the day is about the two of you and the relationship you have. I wish nothing for the best for you both :)
