I always know the day I have a newborn on the schedule, it’s going to be good one. Entering a home where new life has just been welcomed is like taking a happy pill! No matter how sleep deprived mom and dad are, they are beyond proud to show me their new little one. There are lots of comments about how the first few days have been and how everyone is adjusting, even the family dog. Life is good. It’s always a good day.
Erica contacted me a short time before she was due to give birth and told me to be expecting her call as soon as Harper made her arrival! Seeing her name pop up in my inbox a few days after the due date was a rush….SHE’S HERE!!!
We started off in Harper’s adorable nursery. How tiny they look in their cribs as newborns! I also love when Mom and Dad can both be a part of the session…Jon never stopped smiling…even while stealing a kiss with his beautiful wife ;)
There’s a bit of a learning curve involved with dressing a newborn…and I’m convinced that people who design baby clothes have never physically had to do this! Jon was a little worried about getting the dress over Harper’s head ;)
Erica and Jon, your little girl is so beautiful! Congratulations to you both on your growing family and I look forward to watching Harper grow in leaps and bounds in the next year!
Prepare yourself for an image overload; the result of an impromptu 15 minute session in our back yard! This post is all about Evie and how she is all too quickly turning into a young lady. Tim and I are having a bit of trouble dealing…our little girl isn’t so little anymore…
She’s changed so much in the past year, in every way that I can think of! She relates to me in a much more mature way than she used to. She tends to want to hang out with adults rather than the kids when we have company. She still plays like a child but talks more like a grown up. I often wonder if she’s as confused by this as I am! Although, my confusion is much more like denial than anything…
She has a great sense of humor, and likes to make others laugh. She would prefer being the “class clown” to being the part of the punchline, but she’s learning to laugh at herself :) This is the look of her hiding a smile from a joke that was directed at her…quite hard do pull off since she got retainers earlier this year!
As much as she enjoys being the center of attention, she also loves retreating into a book and sitting quietly in her room. She’s very artistic and according to her art teacher, has great ability and potential in her drawings and paintings. Her favorite way to pass the day is painting with her Great-Grandma Curry’s brushes and easel.
She’s not sure how she feels about sports, but she LOVES to dance. And she’s really great…if I do say so myself!
She is the queen of expressions. She’s very animated when she talks…she gets it honestly ;) If you know Evie, each of these looks are already very familiar to you!
She’s beautiful. When she smiles, her entire face literally lights up. Her giggles are often and sometimes for no reason. She has the most unique sea-foam green colored eyes that I just adore. She can be sensitive and hard headed all at the same time. She knows what she wants but has trouble making decisions. It sounds like a complete contradiction, but I understand. Probably because we’re very much alike in that way.
Getting ready for school each day has been interesting. Evie has started taking an interest in clothes! The hard part is that often we don’t agree ;) I can recall one morning when I chose her outfit and showed her she said, “Mom, that is SO not my style.” Oh no. I’ve created a monster!
She loves hats like her mama loves shoes. They too don’t always match, but I’ve learned to look the other way because it’s so not worth the argument. But one thing we always agree on when it comes to fashion, sparkles and ruffles are a good thing!
Love the nose wrinkle smile :)
She’s my beautiful Evie Grace and I’m so proud to be her mom.
From emails back and forth between his mom and myself, I had an idea of what Jacob would be like. Style. Great smile. Very outgoing. When I met him in person, I have to admit the facial hair threw me as I thought, “He cannot be a senior in high school!!!” Maybe it’s just me but I think it makes him look so much older ;) We met in Fort Wayne for his late afternoon session to what I also knew would be a great time. His mom had told me that Jacob loves photography and was up for anything. I knew his taste was very urban with lots of textures and that’s what we did…and the light played right into the our hands. I love it when a plan comes together!
Jacob, I so enjoyed getting to know you and your mom during our escapades! Thanks for being patient with me while I journeyed across the bridge ;) Wishing you all the best as you finish up your high school career and continue on to do great things!
